About Us

The Results for Development Institute (R4D) delivers policy analysis, critical information, decision-making tools, and policy advice for governments, civil society organizations, and external funders to use to reduce poverty and accelerate social and economic progress in low and middle income countries. Working in areas such as economics and finance, health policy, education, management, and governance, R4D concentrates on long-term engagements, where we can translate ideas and evidence into sound policies and programs that enable countries and development partners to achieve results. We combine the research and analytic methods of a think tank with the action orientation of a program implementing organization.

R4D's mission is: to spark innovative ideas and catalyze high impact actions that reduce poverty and improve lives in developing countries.

The Results for Development Institute pursues its mission by:

  • Working with countries and global leaders to leverage financial and human resources to tackle critical development problems in health, education, and other social sectors
  • Supporting the development of public-private collaborations that can augment and improve the use of resources
  • Fostering the development of civil society institutions to monitor, analyze, and advocate for effective and equitable social programs
  • Developing innovative financial and institutional mechanisms that promote investment in poor and vulnerable populations in low and middle income countries

What is R4D?

R4D was formed to respond to a growing demand for innovative thinking that can be translated into concrete actions to address the development issues facing low and middle income countries. We use rigorous analysis and a range of stakeholder consultation methods to design and test practical solutions to these challenges. We combine elements of think tanks, consulting firms and implementers:
