3 November, 2009

Seoul, Korea – Nicholas Burnett, who leads R4D’s work in education, was a keynote speaker for the Global Human Resources Forum on November 3-5, 2009. Burnett’s presentation on “Rethinking Aid for Education” reviews the existing challenges to effective education programs in low- and middle-income countries and suggest some key areas for reform in the international architecture of aid for education.

Burnett was one of many distinguished speakers who contributed to the 2009 Global HR Forum. Under the theme “Creative Education for All,” the conference agenda focused on the evolving HR challenges posed by a global financial crisis. Bringing together education and training policymakers, top educators, HR specialists from the corporate world, and leaders of the global economy, the forum served as a platform for cross-border collaboration to achieve the level of competence necessary for global prosperity.

Initiated in 2006, The Global HR Forum is a Korean government-sponsored symposium committed to garnering worldwide efforts to develop and utilize competent worldwide resources and promote stronger collaboration between governments, enterprises, and educational institutions. It is conducted in collaboration with the Korea Economic Daily, the Korean Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training.
