R4D receives joint Gates-Rockefeller grant to identify innovative private health initiatives in the developing world

3 August, 2009

Through the launch of its Center for Health Market Innovations (CHMI), R4D will collaborate with a network of in-country partners to identify and evaluate innovative programs that improve the quality and affordability of private health care in the developing world.

The private sector is a huge component of health care delivery in many low and middle income countries, with private, out-of-pocket payments accounting for more than half of total health expenditures in several countries throughout Asia and Africa. CHMI will serve as a platform to expand the knowledge base for programs that effectively harness the private sector to improve health outcomes and financial protection for the poor.

Read more about the exciting launch of the Center for Health Market Innovations in the attached CHMI Press Release.
