The Governance and Transparency Program of the Results for Development Institute has been awarded $4 million from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for a new three year phase of its Transparency and Accountability Program (TAP). The new effort will focus on strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in sub-Saharan Africa, scaling up R4D’s existing work supporting local organizations that are studying key governance problems and advocating for more effective and equitable public spending and improved delivery of services in education, health, and other sectors critical for human development.
Building on the successful work of TAP-supported CSOs in recommending and achieving innovative solutions to persistent development problems in Ghana, Guatemala, and other developing countries, this project will provide both long-term support to five CSOs, and short project grants to 30 organizations in three rounds of grants.
TAP will launch a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the first round of grants in the winter of 2010. For more information about this project sign up for TAP alerts or our mailing list.
Note: TAP is currently recruiting a Program Officer to work on the project in addition to other governance work at R4D. To view the job announcement, click here.
