Mame Annan-Brown is Chief Communications Officer at R4D. Her role is to build and strengthen R4D’s brand, communications and public relations strategy. She brings to R4D experience leading high impact marketing functions in finance, human rights and international development. Prior to joining R4D, she was Director of Marketing & Communications at Genocide Intervention Network, an organization dedicated to ending genocide and mass atrocities around the world in areas including, Sudan, Burma and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Prior to Genocide Intervention Network, she spent 10 years on Wall Street, where she was Vice President, JPMorgan Investment Bank, Global Marketing & Communications division. At JPMorgan, she advised senior business executives in Investment Bank Risk, Finance & Business Management, Legal & Compliance and Human Resources on their strategic communications agendas. She also launched and led the Investment Bank's first charitable giving and employee volunteerism program which under her leadership raised $2.2 million, engaging over 4,000 employees in support of 50 charities globally. She has also held positions at the United Nations, International Peace Institute (IPI) and the United States Senate.
She is the co-Founder and President of S.H.E.I.S., an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women and serves as a member of the advisory board for Rural Communities Empowerment Center (RCEC) in Ghana. She is also Chair of Senior Global Communicators, a Washington, D.C.-based networking group for communications professionals in human rights, international development and public relations.
She received her Masters in Development Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a bachelors in Economics from McGill University.
